Govinda Joins Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena for Lok Sabha Elections

Govinda joined Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and called it the ‘blessing of God’. “I thought I would not enter politics again,” the actor said.

Govinda, the popular actor, made a grand return to politics by joining Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena on Thursday. This move injects excitement into Maharashtra’s upcoming Lok Sabha election. Govinda is expected to contest from Mumbai North West constituency, marking his comeback after a break from politics.

In 2004, Govinda famously contested from Mumbai North on a Congress ticket, where he defeated BJP’s Ram Naik, earning the title of a giant-slayer. Afterward, he stepped away from politics. Now, with his entry into Shiv Sena, Govinda brings his star power to the political arena once again.”

“Joining Shiv Sena is truly a blessing from above,” remarked Govinda as he was ceremoniously welcomed into the party by Eknath Shinde. “I never anticipated re-entering politics, but this feels like the right path.” Reflecting on Mumbai under Eknath Shinde’s leadership, Govinda expressed admiration, stating, “The city appears cleaner and more refined now.” He also shared that his parents, who were prominent figures in the film industry, had fostered a strong rapport with Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
