Odisha Govt Rolls Out SoP for Hospitals to Combat Rising Heat-Related Emergencies

HDFC LIFE C2PS
With temperatures soaring in some regions of Odisha, the state's health department has taken proactive measures by issuing a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SoP) for hospitals to effectively manage heat-related emergencies. The SoP, slated for implementation from March to July at district and sub-district levels, mandates the establishment of control rooms equipped with dedicated phone lines and the readiness of rapid response teams. Hospitals are instructed to set up heat-stroke rooms with air-conditioners and coolers, allocate beds accordingly, and provide essential supplies like ORS and IV fluids. Additionally, awareness campaigns will be conducted to educate the public on heat-related illnesses and prevention methods. Medical authorities are directed to investigate any heat-related illness-related deaths as per central guidelines, while specific action plans are requested from key healthcare facilities to minimize heat stress disorder fatalities. This proactive approach underscores Odisha's commitment to ensuring public health and safety amidst rising temperatures. #socialgossip
