PM Modi Launches ₹13,430 Crore Development Projects in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated development projects worth ₹13,430 crore across Andhra Pradesh, marking one of the state’s biggest infrastructure and industrial pushes in recent years. The projects span multiple sectors including industry, power, roads, railways, defence, and energy and aim to accelerate job creation, connectivity, and economic resilience in the state.

Addressing a gathering during the event, Prime Minister Modi said the projects reflect India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) and the government’s continued commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth. He added that Andhra Pradesh, with its strategic location and industrial potential, would play a key role in the nation’s growth journey.

Industrial Hubs in Orvakal and Kopparthy to Drive Job Creation

Among the major announcements today are the industrial hubs at Orvakal and Kopparthy, developed at a combined cost of ₹4,920 crore. The hubs are designed to attract an estimated ₹21,000 crore in private investment and create nearly 1 lakh employment opportunities.

The industrial zones are expected to boost manufacturing, logistics, and export-oriented industries, particularly in electronics, food processing, and renewable energy components. Officials stated that both hubs will have world-class infrastructure with plug-and-play facilities, road and rail connectivity, and logistics parks making Andhra Pradesh a major destination for domestic and global investors.

₹2,880 Crore Power Transmission Project to Strengthen Renewable Energy Grid

A major component of today’s launches includes a ₹2,880 crore transmission project aimed at boosting Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity by 6,000 MVA.
This project aligns with India’s national energy transition goals and will help integrate solar and wind energy generation into the state grid. With this addition, Andhra Pradesh is expected to strengthen its position as a key contributor to the country’s clean energy mission.

Government officials highlighted that the project would not only improve power stability but also attract new investments in green energy manufacturing and transmission infrastructure.

Highways and Railway Projects to Improve Connectivity Across Andhra Pradesh

Connectivity was another major focus of today’s event. PM Modi inaugurated a ₹960 crore Greenfield Highway project and ₹1,140 crore worth of road development initiatives aimed at improving intra-state transport and logistics efficiency.

Additionally, ₹1,200 crore worth of railway upgrades, including the Kottavalasa–Vizianagaram line, were launched to strengthen both passenger and freight transport networks.
These projects are expected to reduce travel time, enhance cargo movement, and improve regional connectivity with neighboring industrial and port cities.

Transport experts have termed this expansion a “strategic infrastructure step” that will integrate rural areas with industrial clusters and major ports, unlocking new economic opportunities for small and medium enterprises across Andhra Pradesh.

Defence and Energy Projects to Boost Self-Reliance

In the defence manufacturing sector, the Prime Minister launched a ₹360 crore Bharat Electronics Night Vision Factory, which will enhance India’s capability in producing advanced surveillance and defence systems.
This marks another milestone in the Make in India initiative, encouraging domestic defence production and reducing import dependency.

Meanwhile, energy infrastructure received a major boost with the ₹1,730 crore GAIL Gas Pipeline and a ₹200 crore IOC LPG Plant, which will improve gas distribution and supply chains across the state. These projects are expected to strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s role as an energy hub for South India.

PM Modi Highlights Andhra Pradesh’s Role in India’s Growth Vision

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Modi underlined Andhra Pradesh’s growing role in India’s industrial and infrastructure map. He said the state’s port connectivity, skilled workforce, and expanding industrial corridors make it a natural choice for national and international investors.

“The projects launched today are part of a larger vision to empower India’s states, create employment, and bring development closer to people’s lives,” he said. Modi also reiterated the Centre’s commitment to strengthening state-level infrastructure to ensure balanced regional development.

Massive Boost for Andhra Pradesh’s Economic Growth

Together, the ₹13,430 crore projects represent a transformative step for Andhra Pradesh modernizing its industrial ecosystem, enhancing logistics efficiency, and laying the foundation for long-term, sustainable growth.
Economists estimate that these investments could increase the state’s GDP contribution in manufacturing and energy sectors significantly over the next five years.

With its expanding industrial base, strong policy support, and growing infrastructure, Andhra Pradesh continues to emerge as one of India’s fastest-developing states under cooperative federalism and national growth initiatives.
