Mamata Banerjee countered PM Modi’s accusations by stating, “The PM accuses TMC of corruption, but he should reflect on his own party first. His party is filled with dacoits.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Tuesday, launched a scathing critique of the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, alleging that the Mamata Banerjee-led administration engages in corruption, protects criminals and illegal immigrants, while opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and Ram Navami processions in the state.

“In essence, TMC has handed over West Bengal to infiltrators and criminals. Consequently, the state government shields infiltrators and objects to CAA, which promises legal citizenship. Don’t fall for the rumors they spread,” PM Modi declared at a rally in South Dinajpur district, part of the Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency, where Sukanta Banerjee, the incumbent MP and state BJP president, is the candidate.

PM Modi also condemned TMC’s resistance to Ram Navami celebrations in the state, hailing the Calcutta High Court’s decision to permit a Vishwa Hindu Parishad procession in Howrah as a triumph of truth.

“Tomorrow, the entire nation will commemorate Ram Navami… This marks the first Ram Navami since Lord Ram’s enthronement at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Despite TMC’s persistent attempts and various conspiracies to obstruct Ram Navami celebrations in the state, truth prevails. The court has granted permission. Tomorrow, processions will take place with unwavering faith and devotion,” he proclaimed.

The High Court allowed a VHP procession for Ram Navami in Howrah with strict conditions. Mamata Banerjee hit back at PM Modi’s corruption accusations, demanding answers on MGNREGA funds and criticizing BJP’s ignorance of Bengali culture, while supporting TMC’s candidate in Mainaguri.
