Arvind Kejriwal Granted Bail in Enforcement Directorate Case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been granted bail by the Rouse Avenue Court after appearing before it in connection with two Enforcement Directorate (ED) complaints. The complaints were filed against him for skipping multiple summonses related to the Delhi Excise Policy case.

The court granted bail on a surety bond of Rs 15,000 and a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. Kejriwal, accompanied by his lawyer Ramesh Gupta, appeared before the court amidst tight security.

The AAP legal head, Sanjeev Nasiar, confirmed the development, stating that Kejriwal appeared in person and submitted the bail bond, following which bail was granted. The next hearing is scheduled for April 1.

Earlier, the Rouse Avenue Court had rejected Kejriwal request to postpone the summons. The Chief Minister had been summoned after the ED filed a fresh case against him for non-compliance with previous summonses.

Kejriwal has skipped a total of eight ED summonses so far. The probe agency had sought his prosecution for failing to attend the initial summonses issued in connection with the money laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy.

The chargesheets filed by the ED have repeatedly mentioned Kejriwal’s name in connection with the case. Several AAP leaders and liquor businessmen have been arrested in connection with the case.

The court’s decision to grant bail marks a significant development in Kejriwal legal battle, providing temporary relief amidst ongoing investigations.
