Users of the social media platform X have recently flooded the platform with posts containing the phrase “What’s wrong with India?” This trend quickly gained traction, becoming the top trend in India with over three lakh posts. While some users highlighted recent incidents, others criticized the platform’s alleged biased algorithm that promotes negative portrayals of India.

In response, the official handle of the citizen engagement platform of the Indian government, @MyGovIndia, participated in the trend by sharing images of news reports showcasing the country’s achievements over the past two years. These reports highlighted India’s success in eradicating extreme poverty, landing on the moon’s South Pole, and receiving praise from the IMF chief for its rapid economic growth.

The government’s involvement aimed to present a positive image of India amidst posts covering various issues such as women’s safety, crime, food hygiene, and corruption. Many X users supported the government’s stance by sharing similar incidents from other countries with the caption “What’s wrong with India?”

This viral trend comes at a time when India’s economy is poised for significant growth, with projections indicating it may become the third-largest economy by 2027 and a nearly $10 trillion market by 2030.
