Millions of users worldwide are grappling with connectivity issues as Instagram and Facebook, both owned by Meta, suffer a widespread outage. Reports of difficulties accessing the platforms began surfacing on Tuesday evening, with users encountering problems on both mobile applications and desktop interfaces.
The outage, which started around 8:56 pm, triggered a surge in reports on the outage tracking website Down detector, with over Millions of users globally indicating problems with Instagram. Additionally, users reported experiencing ‘session logouts’ while using Facebook.
Despite the widespread disruption, Meta has not issued an official statement addressing the situation.
In response to the outage, users flocked to alternative platforms like Twitter to share their frustrations and seek updates on the ongoing issue. With Instagram and Facebook both affected, this incident marks one of the biggest challenges for Meta in recent years.
