Breaking: SC Slaps Temporary Ban on Patanjali Medicine Ads for Misleading Claims, Contempt Notice to Ramdev and Balkrishna

HDFC LIFE C2PS
The Supreme Court has taken a stern stance against Patanjali Ayurved, imposing a temporary ban on their medicine advertisements for making misleading claims about curing diseases without empirical evidence. Founders Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna face a contempt notice for flouting court orders. Additionally, the court criticized the Central government for not addressing misleading advertisements despite petitions dating back to 2022. This move comes after previous scrutiny in 2022 when Ramdev disparaged allopathy during the pandemic, leading to criminal proceedings initiated by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The IMA's legal representatives, along with intervenors like the National Association of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, continue to advocate for accountability in advertising practices. #nationalgossip
