Bihar’s Nitish Kumar: No Free Electricity, but Savings for Prepaid Users and Subsidies for All

HDFC LIFE C2PS
Bihar's Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, has made it clear that there won't be free electricity for the people of Bihar. However, he wants everyone to know that Bihar already gives subsidies on electricity, making the bills cheaper than in many other states. While some neighboring states like Jharkhand have announced free electricity, Nitish Kumar believes that people should contribute towards their electricity bills. He says this helps the government manage finances better. Bijendra Prasad Yadav, the Energy Minister, also agrees. He says that the government is planning to give discounts to people who use prepaid meters. So, if you recharge your prepaid meter for three or six months, you'll get a discount. Overall, the government wants to balance things. They want to make sure people get affordable electricity while also managing the state's finances well. #nationalgossip
