In a significant development for transportation infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram today. This landmark eight-lane elevated highway, India’s first of its kind, is poised to revolutionize commuting between Delhi and Gurugram.

The 19-kilometer stretch, completed at a cost of Rs 4,100 crore, promises to ease traffic congestion and enhance connectivity in the region. Boasting innovative features such as automated toll collection and an Efficient Transport System (ITS), the expressway incorporates state-of-the-art infrastructure designed to optimize safety and convenience for commuters.

Among its notable features are four multi-level interchanges, tunnels, and elevated flyovers, including the country’s longest and widest urban road tunnel spanning 3.6 kilometers. This infrastructure marvel not only improves connectivity between Dwarka sectors and the proposed Global City in Gurugram but also provides direct access to the upcoming India International Convention Centre (IICC) in Dwarka Sector 25.

Furthermore, the Dwarka Expressway serves as an alternative route to the Indira Gandhi International Airport via a shallow tunnel, offering commuters greater flexibility and convenience in their travel options.

The completion of this project, undertaken in four stages, underscores a monumental effort in infrastructure development, utilizing approximately 2 lakh MT of steel and 20 lakh cubic meters of concrete. Its inauguration marks a significant milestone in the nation’s transportation landscape, highlighting the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and connectivity.
