ED Raids BRS Leader K Kavitha Hyderabad Residence in Delhi Liquor Policy Case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has conducted a raid at the residence of BRS leader K Kavitha in Hyderabad in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. This action comes after Kavitha failed to appear before the investigating agency despite being summoned multiple times. Kavitha, who serves as an MLC in Telangana, had previously been questioned by the ED in March 2023 regarding the same case.

It is alleged that Kavitha had communication with Vijay Nair, the communication head of AAP, during the formulation and execution of liquor policies, engaging with businessmen from the industry and politicians. Testimonies from individuals like Butchibabu Gorantla, Kavitha’s former chartered accountant, and Arun Ramchandra Pillai, who advocated for her in meetings with Nair and others, have been presented in her prior interrogations.

Butchibabu, apprehended by the CBI, stated in his testimony that there was a political understanding between Kavitha and the chief minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, regarding the liquor policies. Pillai, apprehended by the ED, allegedly represented Kavitha’s unauthorized investments and played a role in forming cartels and facilitating bribes on behalf of the South Group.

K Kavitha is the daughter of Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
