As part of the ongoing people’s movement by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), Member of Parliament YS Avinash Reddy led a large rally in Pulivendula opposing the state government’s move to privatize government medical colleges under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking to the media after the rally, Avinash Reddy reaffirmed the YSRCP’s commitment to protecting the public healthcare system and ensuring that quality medical education remains accessible to economically weaker sections.

The protest in Pulivendula forms part of a larger state-wide campaign launched by the YSRCP across all 175 Assembly constituencies. The movement includes rallies, public meetings, and a one-crore signature drive urging the state to withdraw the privatization plan.
The party argues that government medical institutions play a crucial role in serving rural and underprivileged communities and that any move towards privatization could deprive them of essential healthcare access.

In his address, Avinash Reddy stated that the YSRCP remains steadfast in safeguarding the legacy of strengthening medical infrastructure established in the previous administration. He urged the public to stand united in defending equitable healthcare and medical education.
He said, “Healthcare is not a commodity it is a right. Our focus must remain on strengthening public institutions, not handing them over to private entities.”
