Enforcement Directorate Conducts Raids in Chandigarh Including Punjab Excise Commissioner Residence

ED

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids at 20 locations in Chandigarh, including the residence of Punjab Excise Commissioner Varun Roojam. These raids are part of an ongoing investigation into the now-defunct Delhi excise policy. The ED targeted various locations in Chandigarh, including Sector 20, where the residence of the IAS officer is situated. This isn’t the first time Roojam residence has been subject to ED scrutiny, as a similar raid took place back in September 2023. The details regarding the ongoing raids remain limited as of now. Concurrently, the Delhi High Court is currently hearing the plea of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was recently arrested by the ED in connection with the liquor policy scam. Kejriwal arrest on March 21 and subsequent remand to the ED have stirred legal controversies, with his petition challenging the legality of the arrest and seeking his immediate release.
