Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) Rahul Kaswan has joined the Congress party after being denied a ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Kaswan, who represented Churu constituency, announced his resignation from the BJP and joined the Congress in the presence of party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Expressing gratitude to Congress leaders for welcoming him, Kaswan thanked BJP leaders including JP Nadda, Narendra Modi, and Amit Shah for the opportunity to serve as the Churu MP for ten years.
Kaswan’s decision to switch parties came after the BJP replaced him with Paralympian Devendra Jhajharia as the candidate for the Churu parliamentary seat. The Kaswan family had held the seat since 2004, with Ram Singh Kaswan winning in 2004 and 2009, and Rahul Kaswan securing it in 2014 and 2019.
Kaswan expressed frustration over being denied the ticket for the 2024 general elections, questioning the reasons behind it despite his dedication and loyalty to the party. His move to Congress highlights the shifting political dynamics in Rajasthan ahead of the upcoming polls.
