Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 10 new Vande Bharat trains on Tuesday, March 12, boosting the total count to over 50 and extending service to 45 routes across India. These trains, which primarily operate on electrified broad gauge networks, aim to enhance connectivity between various states.
The routes of the new Vande Bharat trains include key destinations such as Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central, Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam, Mysuru-Chennai, Patna-Lucknow, and Lucknow-Dehradun, among others. Additionally, extensions for four existing routes were also flagged off by the Prime Minister.
Delhi will host the highest number of Vande Bharat trains, with 10 services connecting the capital to various destinations. Mumbai and Chennai follow closely, with six and five dedicated trains, respectively.
The expansion of Vande Bharat trains underscores the government’s commitment to improving railway connectivity and facilitating travel across the country.
