Abu Dhabi Hindu Temple Welcomes Devotees: Dress Code and Guidelines Unveiled

The first Hindu stone temple in Abu Dhabi, UAE, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 14, is now open to devotees and the general public, offering a sanctuary for spiritual solace and communal reverence. The Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) constructed the temple on a 27-acre plot in Abu Mureikhah, close to Al Rahba along the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway, at an estimated expense of approximately Rs 700 crore. The UAE government generously provided the land for the temple as a donation. Dress code for visiting Abu Dhabi temple : The Abu Dhabi temple has provided detailed guidelines on its website to assist visitors in understanding the preferred attire and prohibited clothing, as well as rules regarding photography. According to the temple, visitors must dress in a manner that covers the area between the neck, elbows, and ankles. Caps, t-shirts, and other garments featuring offensive designs are prohibited. Tight-fitting or translucent clothing should be avoided, along with clothing or accessories that produce distracting noises or reflections. Visitors who do not adhere to these guidelines or whose attire is considered inappropriate by temple staff may be refused entry. The temple authorities emphasize that these guidelines are essential to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and ensure the orderly management of the premises. The temple underscored the importance of following these guidelines, stating that they are necessary "to maintain a serene atmosphere and uphold the efficient management of our facilities." The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has at least 3.5 million Indians who are part of the Indian workforce in the Gulf. The BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi is the largest in the Gulf region.
