Bhubaneshwar: Former Odisha minister and senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader, Debasis Nayak, known for his close association with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, has resigned from the BJD ahead of the state and general elections. Nayak, a four-time MLA, expressed disillusionment with the BJD leadership, alleging a decline in the party's integrity and values. He highlighted concerns over the party's governance, likening it to the "Jayalalitha syndrome." Shortly after resigning, Nayak joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of state unit president Manmohan Samal. Nayak's departure marks a significant shift in Odisha's political landscape, given his long-standing association with the ruling party and his history of serving in ministerial positions under Chief Minister Patnaik's administration. #politicalgossip
