ICAI Announces Triannual Foundation and Intermediate Exams Schedule

ICAI, the world’s largest accounting body, has made a pivotal decision to transition its Foundation and Intermediate Course exams to a triannual schedule, held in January, May, June, and September.

This strategic shift, endorsed during a recent Central Council meeting, aims to align with global examination practices and provide enhanced opportunities for aspiring Chartered Accountants.

By reducing the interval between exams from 6 months to 4 months, students will now have more flexibility and expedited pathways to certification. President Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal lauds this move as a boon for young aspirants, emphasizing its role in nurturing their ambitions and advancing their careers.

Notably, the upcoming May/June 2024 exams have witnessed an unprecedented enrollment of 4,36,500 students, underscoring the growing interest in the profession. Furthermore, ICAI’s proactive initiatives, such as the introduction of a tech-savvy education and training scheme in 2023, demonstrate its commitment to producing skilled and adaptable accounting professionals.

This revamped curriculum, implemented in July last year, focuses on integrating technology into accounting practices while emphasizing human-centric skills, thus ensuring that CA professionals remain relevant in an ever-evolving business landscape.
