The Srisailam Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple administration, in coordination with Andhra Pradesh Police, has taken strict action against five staff members of the Mallikarjuna Annasatra following serious violations of temple decorum. The action came after videos surfaced on social media allegedly showing staff members dancing to film songs and item numbers within temple-related premises, triggering widespread concern among devotees and religious communities.

According to official sources, a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after a formal complaint was filed by the temple’s Chief Security Officer. An internal inquiry was also initiated to examine violations of temple rules and provisions under the Endowments Act. Authorities stated that the acts were not only inappropriate but also in clear violation of long-standing guidelines governing conduct within sacred premises.

Temple Authorities Cite Violation of Religious Sentiments

Temple officials stated that the alleged actions of the staff hurt the religious sentiments of devotees visiting the sacred pilgrimage centre. The Devasthanam reiterated that the Annasatra, being a free food service attached to the temple, is an extension of the sacred space and is governed by strict rules of discipline, decorum, and reverence. Any deviation from these standards is treated as a serious breach.

Zero Tolerance Toward Indiscipline Reaffirmed

Srisailam Devasthanam Executive Officer Srinivas Rao clearly stated that dancing, recording reels, or engaging in inappropriate behaviour within the temple or its associated premises is strictly prohibited. He warned that strict legal and disciplinary action would be taken against anyone found violating temple norms, irrespective of their position or role. The administration emphasized that repeated instructions had been issued to staff regarding expected conduct.

Disciplinary Action and Removal of Staff

Responding to the incident, Mallikarjuna Annasatra Chairman Shyam confirmed that the actions of the staff were unacceptable and had caused distress among devotees. Following the inquiry, all five staff members involved were removed from their duties. He stated that the Devasthanam is committed to restoring public confidence and ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
