YSRCP Member of Parliament Y.S. Avinash Reddy launched a sharp critique of the Chandrababu Naidu–led coalition government, questioning its performance over the past 18 months and alleging large-scale dilution of welfare measures introduced during the previous YSRCP administration.
Addressing public issues, Avinash Reddy asked what tangible benefits the coalition government had delivered to the people since assuming office, stating that several welfare assurances had either been scaled back or remained unfulfilled.
Allegations of Pension Reductions and Welfare Rollbacks
Avinash Reddy highlighted the issue of pension reductions, claiming that pensions for nearly five lakh beneficiaries had been discontinued after the change in government. He noted that earlier, pensions were reaching approximately 66 lakh beneficiaries and questioned the rationale behind removing support for vulnerable sections.
He further questioned the status of promised unemployment benefits and farmer insurance schemes, stating that commitments made during the election campaign had not translated into implementation on the ground.
Concerns Over Healthcare Privatisation
Raising concerns over healthcare policy, the YSRCP MP cautioned that the privatisation of medical colleges could adversely impact affordable medical education and public healthcare access. He argued that such decisions risk excluding economically weaker sections and undermine the public healthcare infrastructure built over years.
Housing, Water Grid, and Development Projects
Avinash Reddy reiterated that the YSRCP government had initiated several development projects, including the construction of 8,000 houses for the poor and the launch of a water grid scheme worth ₹480 crore. He recalled that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had laid the foundation stone for the water grid project, stressing its long-term benefits for the region.
He also attributed the availability of Krishna river water in the area to initiatives undertaken during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Law and Order and Illegal Activities
The MP alleged that illegal activities such as sand smuggling from the Papaghni river, gambling, matka, and thefts had increased under the current administration. He further accused the coalition government of focusing on filing false cases against YSRCP workers instead of addressing governance challenges.
Unfulfilled Promises and Public Accountability
Avinash Reddy questioned several welfare promises made by the coalition government, including financial assistance to women, unemployment allowances, and annual support for farmers. He asked where these promised benefits were being delivered and urged the government to provide clarity to the public.
He stated that political credibility depends on fulfilling assurances rather than making announcements without execution.
Call for Development-Oriented Governance
Concluding his remarks, Avinash Reddy urged the coalition leadership to move away from what he termed “empty rhetoric” and focus on development-oriented governance. He asserted that people and farmers in the region were aware of the welfare and infrastructure initiatives undertaken during the tenures of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He called upon the government to prioritise public welfare, economic stability, and regional development over political confrontation.
