Jagan Mohan Reddy Questions Government Claims After KIMS Denial

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has questioned the credibility of the state government’s claims regarding private participation in proposed medical colleges after KIMS Hospitals categorically denied submitting a bid for the Adoni project.

The denial contradicts the government’s assertion that at least one tender had been received under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for medical colleges proposed at Adoni, Markapuram, Madanapalle, and Pulivendula.

KIMS Denial and Ministerial Clarification

Following KIMS Hospitals’ public statement denying any involvement, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav clarified that the bid in question was submitted by Dr. Prem Chand Shah, a doctor employed with KIMS, in his individual capacity and not by the hospital group itself.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said the clarification confirms that the government’s claims were misleading and did not reflect genuine institutional participation.

Jagan Flags Exaggeration and Transparency Issues

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy stated that presenting an individual application as a hospital-backed proposal amounts to exaggeration and undermines public trust. He stressed that healthcare expansion, especially medical education, must be based on credible partnerships and transparent processes.

He further pointed out that such misrepresentation reflects the broader challenges the government is facing in attracting serious private investors for long-term healthcare projects.

Concerns Over Medical Education Expansion

The former Chief Minister highlighted that while announcements have been made at the national level about establishing 175 new medical colleges, many states are struggling to convert announcements into actual institutions due to land, funding, and operational viability issues.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said that instead of inflating figures, governments must focus on strengthening existing infrastructure and ensuring sustainability.

YSRCP Demands Accountability

YSRCP leaders have demanded that the government place all tender documents and investor details in the public domain. They argue that transparency is critical when projects involve public health, medical education, and taxpayer-funded incentives.

Jagan Mohan Reddy reiterated that policy credibility is built through honesty and execution, not through announcements unsupported by facts.
