The Amaravati Meteorological Centre has issued a weather alert warning of a significant fall in temperatures across Andhra Pradesh and Yanam over the next three days. The warning comes amid the influence of strong northeasterly winds prevailing in the lower levels of the atmosphere, which are likely to trigger cold wave conditions in several parts of the region.
According to the Meteorological Centre, dry weather will continue to dominate Rayalaseema, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam through Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. However, the dry spell will be accompanied by a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures, particularly during the early morning and late night hours.
Temperatures Likely to Fall Below Seasonal Norms
Weather officials have indicated that minimum temperatures in parts of Rayalaseema may fall 2 to 3 degrees Celsius below the seasonal average over the next five days. In some pockets of the state, temperatures are expected to dip even further, dropping 3 to 4 degrees Celsius below normal within the next two days.
Such conditions increase the likelihood of cold wave situations, especially in interior districts where night-time cooling tends to be more intense. The Meteorological Centre has also noted that similar cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in parts of North and Central Telangana during this period.
Public Advised to Exercise Caution
In view of the falling temperatures, authorities have urged the public to take necessary precautions. Elderly people, young children, and individuals suffering from respiratory or cardiovascular ailments have been advised to avoid prolonged exposure to cold conditions.
Farmers have also been cautioned to take protective measures for crops that may be vulnerable to sudden temperature drops, particularly during early morning hours.
Monitoring and Further Updates
Meteorological officials stated that the situation is being closely monitored and that further advisories will be issued if temperatures continue to fall or cold wave conditions intensify.
Residents have been advised to stay updated through official weather bulletins and follow precautionary guidelines to minimize health risks during the cold spell.
