The state’s evolving industrial landscape is being reinforced by Hyderabad-based Virupaksha Organics Limited and Sigachi Industries Limited, both of which are expanding their footprint in the region.
Officials said the developments reflect the state’s sustained efforts to attract high-value manufacturing investments through infrastructure development and investor-friendly policies.
Orvakal Emerging as a Strategic Pharma Hub
The expansions underscore Orvakal’s growing importance as an emerging pharmaceutical cluster. Its strategic proximity to Hyderabad — one of India’s leading pharmaceutical and life sciences hubs — has made Orvakal an attractive destination for companies seeking scalable industrial locations with strong logistical connectivity.
The availability of well-planned industrial infrastructure has further accelerated Orvakal’s rise as a manufacturing node.
Major Investment by Virupaksha Organics Limited
Virupaksha Organics Limited has received approval for the allotment of over 100 acres in the IP Guttapadu Cluster at the Orvakal Node. The company plans to establish a manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and organic chemicals.
The project involves an investment of approximately ₹1,225 crore and is expected to significantly enhance the state’s API manufacturing capacity.
Employment Generation and Economic Impact
The Virupaksha Organics project alone has the potential to generate around 1,500 direct jobs. In addition, substantial indirect employment is expected across logistics, utilities, and ancillary industries.
Officials note that such investments contribute not only to job creation but also to the development of a broader industrial ecosystem in the region.

Orvakal’s rapid rise as a pharmaceutical cluster is being driven by infrastructure developed by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC). The availability of industrial land, utilities, and connectivity has played a key role in attracting large-scale manufacturing projects.
