Member of Parliament YS Avinash Reddy met the Union Railway Minister in New Delhi and submitted a detailed representation highlighting the need for improved railway connectivity for Kadapa district. In his letter, the MP requested the extension of the Mysore–Renigunta Weekly Express up to Kadapa and sought a halt for the Machilipatnam–Dharmavaram Express at Muddanooru station. The proposals were presented as part of efforts to address long-standing transport challenges faced by residents of the district.
Focus on Passenger Convenience and Regional Access
YS Avinash Reddy emphasised that better rail connectivity is essential for improving travel convenience for students, working professionals, traders, and daily passengers from Kadapa and surrounding regions. Direct access to major railway routes can reduce travel time, minimise dependence on road transport, and improve connectivity with key economic and educational centres. The MP noted that extending existing services would be a practical and cost-effective way to strengthen regional mobility.
Economic and Social Development Through Connectivity
Improved railway services are expected to have a positive impact on Kadapa’s economic and social development. Enhanced connectivity can facilitate trade, tourism, and employment-related travel while improving access to healthcare and education. Transport experts note that rail infrastructure plays a critical role in regional growth, especially for districts located away from major metropolitan corridors.
Muddanooru Halt to Benefit Local Communities
The request for a halt at Muddanooru for the Machilipatnam–Dharmavaram Express is aimed at addressing the needs of local communities and nearby mandals. A scheduled stop at the station would improve accessibility for passengers who currently travel long distances to board express services. The proposal is expected to reduce travel hardships and provide equitable access to rail facilities for interior regions of the district.
Consistent Efforts to Address Local Infrastructure Needs
YS Avinash Reddy’s representation reflects ongoing efforts to engage with central authorities on infrastructure issues affecting Kadapa. By raising specific, district-focused demands, the MP aims to ensure that transport planning remains responsive to local needs. Officials indicated that such proposals are examined through established railway procedures, including feasibility and operational assessments.
Awaiting Review by Railway Authorities
Railway officials are expected to review the proposals as part of routine evaluation processes. If approved, the requested changes could significantly improve rail connectivity and passenger experience in Kadapa district. Stakeholders remain hopeful that the initiatives will translate into tangible improvements in transport infrastructure for the region.
