The extension of the MGR Chennai Central–Vijayawada–MGR Chennai Central Vande Bharat Express to Narasapur marks a significant milestone in rail infrastructure development for the Konaseema region. Direct High-Speed Link to Chennai Without Transshipment
With the extension in place, passengers from Narasapur will now be able to travel directly to Chennai without the need to change trains at Vijayawada. The service will operate via Bhimavaram and Gudivada, covering a distance of approximately 655 kilometres in just nine hours. This seamless connectivity is expected to significantly reduce travel fatigue while improving efficiency for regular commuters, business travellers, and pilgrims who frequently travel along this corridor.
Modern Coach Composition and Passenger Capacity
The extended Vande Bharat Express will consist of seven AC Chair Car coaches and one Executive Chair Car, offering a total seating capacity of 530 passengers. Designed to meet modern travel expectations, the coaches provide enhanced seating comfort, improved safety features, and onboard amenities suited for daytime travel. Railway authorities noted that the configuration ensures optimal capacity while maintaining the premium standards associated with Vande Bharat services.
Operational Schedule and Passenger Utility
The train will operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays, catering to consistent passenger demand across the route.
