How Did the Bilaspur Train Accident Happen?

According to railway officials, the accident took place around 4:00 pm between the Gatora and Bilaspur railway stations. The MEMU passenger train was travelling from Gevra Road in Korba district to Bilaspur when it rammed into a goods train from behind. The force of the collision was severe, causing one passenger coach to lift and rest on top of a wagon of the goods train.

Visuals from the crash site show railway staff, police personnel, and rescue workers surrounding the damaged coaches, assessing injuries and clearing debris. The condition of some coaches suggests that the impact was strong enough to deform metal structures and trap passengers inside.
