YSR Congress Party MP YS Avinash Reddy has brought to light what he calls the biggest-ever liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh. The scam, involving the sale of spurious liquor under the label “Nara Vari Sara,” has reportedly caused a direct ₹5,280 crore loss to the state exchequer.
According to YS Avinash Reddy, over 48 crore quarter-bottle cases were circulated through illegal means within a single year. He said this scandal not only inflicted massive financial damage but also endangered public health across districts.
Public Health and Safety at Risk
Highlighting the severe health implications, YS Avinash Reddy stated that substandard liquor has put countless citizens at risk. “This is not just a financial scam it’s a public health emergency,” he said, stressing that the issue must be treated with utmost seriousness by both officials and enforcement agencies. He accused those responsible of “putting profit over people,” urging strict regulatory action and criminal prosecution of those behind the racket.
Demand for Accountability and Investigation
Calling it the “real liquor scam”, YS Avinash Reddy demanded a full-scale investigation into how such large-scale illegal distribution could occur under government watch. He urged authorities to trace the financial trails, uncover the masterminds, and ensure that public trust is restored.
The MP also emphasized that transparency and accountability must become central to state governance to prevent similar incidents in the future.
A Call for Transparent Governance
Through his exposé, YS Avinash Reddy reinforced his commitment to clean governance and public welfare. He said the incident should serve as a reminder that corruption at the cost of public health cannot be tolerated, and that stronger monitoring mechanisms are vital for public trust.
“This is about the safety of our people and the integrity of our state’s governance. The truth must come out, and those responsible must be held accountable,” he said.
Restoring Faith in Public Administration
The revelation has reignited public debate about the need for tighter control in liquor sales, transparent licensing, and ethical administration. YS Avinash Reddy’s statement has drawn attention to the importance of reforming regulatory systems to protect both public revenue and citizens’ health.
As the issue continues to unfold, all eyes are now on the authorities to ensure that justice is delivered and that such large-scale irregularities are never repeated in Andhra Pradesh.
