Eyantram Waste Management Pvt Ltd, a city-based firm, has inaugurated an integrated recycling plant at the Andhra Pradesh Medtech Zone (AMTZ) this month. The facility, built with an investment of around Rs 20 crore, aims to revolutionize medical and electronic waste recycling across Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states, including Telangana, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh.

The new plant leverages cutting-edge technology developed by CSIR–National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML), ensuring efficient, high-value recovery of metals while minimizing environmental impact.

Boosting Waste Management and Circular Economy

The establishment of the recycling plant is expected to create significant economic and environmental benefits. According to Ashish Lohia, Director of Eyantram, “The scrap or e-waste recycling sector contributes substantially to the country’s economy. Our e-waste recycling facility will generate a new market for precious, non-ferrous, and rare earth metals recovery by reducing processing costs and producing high-value recycled materials.”

The plant will handle a wide range of medical and electronic waste, converting it into reusable raw materials that can feed back into manufacturing industries, supporting Andhra Pradesh’s growing industrial base.

Regional Impact and Strategic Location

Visakhapatnam, with its strategic location in Andhra Pradesh, provides an ideal hub for e-waste management. The facility will not only cater to the state but also serve Telangana, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a regional leader in waste recycling technologies.

The depot manager at AMTZ briefed the director on operations, logistics, and material indenting processes, ensuring seamless supply chain and operational efficiency.

Technology and Sustainability at Core

The plant’s technology, sourced from CSIR-NML, ensures safe and eco-friendly recovery of metals such as gold, silver, copper, and rare earth elements. The process also reduces the generation of hazardous by-products, supporting Andhra Pradesh’s environmental sustainability goals.

Experts note that advanced recycling plants like this are crucial for building a circular economy, where waste is converted into valuable resources rather than being dumped in landfills.

Economic and Employment Opportunities

The plant is also expected to generate employment opportunities in Visakhapatnam, including skilled positions in operations, logistics, and quality control. As e-waste recycling grows into a high-value industry, local youth and professionals will have access to training and career growth in environmental and metallurgical sectors.

The Andhra Pradesh government has lauded the initiative as a step toward technological innovation, sustainable industry growth, and responsible waste management.

A Sustainable Future for Andhra Pradesh

The launch of Eyantram Waste Management’s integrated recycling plant at AMTZ highlights Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and industrial progress. By addressing medical and electronic waste challenges, the facility not only protects the environment but also contributes to economic growth, resource efficiency, and regional leadership in advanced recycling technologies.

This initiative sets a benchmark for other states to follow, proving that industrial development and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
