Chaos ensued at Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 when a section of the canopy collapsed amid heavy rains, leaving one dead and five injured. The Congress party wasted no time in blaming the Narendra Modi-led government, labeling it as corrupt, inept, and selfish.
Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge lashed out at PM Modi, criticizing his claims of world-class infrastructure under his rule. Kharge’s fiery statements highlighted the Modi government’s alleged corruption and criminal negligence, accusing it of building shoddy infrastructure that fails during critical times.
Kharge took to social media, pointing out the irony of PM Modi’s recent inauguration of a nearby building, which he proudly praised. The Centre, however, clarified that the building in question wasn’t the one inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu responded, stating that the collapsed building was an older structure, opened in 2009, and not the one PM Modi inaugurated. He announced a compensation of ₹20 lakh for the deceased’s family and ₹3 lakh for the injured.
Flight operations were heavily disrupted as authorities halted departures from Terminal 1. The incident raises serious questions about the safety and maintenance of airport infrastructure under the current administration.
