In a tragic incident unfolding in Kota, an 18-year-old girl, Bagisha Tiwari, hailing from Madhya Pradesh, succumbed to death after allegedly jumping from the 9th floor of a multi-storey building. The incident, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Jawahar Nagar police station, has sent shockwaves through the coaching hub.
Reportedly battling depression due to her unsatisfactory performance in the recently declared NEET – UG results, Bagisha Tiwari took the drastic step. She had been preparing for the entrance exam in a coaching institute in Kota. Living on the 5th floor of a PG accommodation with her mother and brother, who was also preparing for the JEE exam, Bagisha somehow reached the 9th floor before jumping.
Eyewitnesses recounted a futile attempt by a woman on the same floor to prevent Bagisha from jumping. Despite efforts to save her, Bagisha was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where she tragically passed away after an hour of treatment.
The family, devastated by the loss, is currently in deep shock and unable to provide details of the events leading up to the incident. Her father, who was informed of the tragedy, is expected to arrive for further proceedings. Authorities are awaiting his arrival to conduct a postmortem at Maharao Bhim Singh (MBS) Hospital.
While the exact reason behind Bagisha’s extreme step remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest her disappointment with her NEET results. It is yet to be determined if she left behind any suicide note. Authorities emphasize that a comprehensive inquiry, including discussions with her parents, is necessary to shed light on the circumstances surrounding her tragic demise.
This heartbreaking incident marks the 10th suspected suicide case among coaching students in Kota since the beginning of the year, adding to the alarming trend that saw 26 such cases reported last year, making it the highest in recent years.
