Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has fulfilled his pledge to support fellow YouTuber PewDiePie by surpassing T-Series to become the most-subscribed channel on YouTube. Earlier in 2023, MrBeast had declared his commitment to backing the Swedish YouTuber, and he has now realized this goal. He announced the milestone on social media, sharing a screenshot that compared his subscriber count with that of T-Series.
“After 6 years we have finally avenged Pewdiepie,” MrBeast wrote in his announcement, revealing that he now has slightly more than 266 million subscribers, surpassing the music company’s total.
Elon Musk responded to the post, saying, “Wow, congrats!” The post quickly went viral, amassing close to 10 million views along with numerous likes and comments. Fans flocked to the comments section to share their reactions.
Here are some of the responses:
- One user wrote, “So proud of you, Jimmy. Thanks, everyone. This is the craziest feeling ever.”
- Another shared, “I’m literally shaking and crying right now. I can’t believe we finally did it.”
- “History has been made, great job MrBeast,” commented a third.
- A fourth added, “Congratulations! This is a long time coming and very much deserved!”
- “GOAT, we love you,” said a fifth.
In an interview with Jon Youshaei, MrBeast reflected on the subscriber rivalry. “I got a little ‘this country versus that country’. I don’t think Felix took it there, but it even got a little racist in the sub-war before. So I’m very cognizant of it, which is why I’m not leaning into it too hard. I just want to be the most subscribed-to channel. Yes, I have a lot of people helping me, but at the end of the day, I started this channel. I live and breathe this. I am a creator,” he said.
