Armed terrorists launched a daring assault on Pakistan’s second-largest naval air base, PNS Siddique, located in Turbat city of Balochistan province. The banned Balochistan Liberation Army’s (BLA) Majeed Brigade has claimed responsibility for the attack, which specifically targeted the base housing Chinese drones. The Balochistan Post reported that the Majeed Brigade asserted their infiltration into the naval airbase, claiming to have killed “over a dozen” security personnel during the onslaught.
The attack, which occurred on Monday night amidst a series of explosions and gunfire in the city, lasted for several hours. Despite the assailants’ attempt to breach the airport boundary from multiple directions, security forces swiftly responded, effectively foiling their efforts. While casualties and injuries among the forces remain unconfirmed, security officials reported the killing of six militants outside the airport boundary. They reassured that sensitive naval installations remained unharmed, thanks to the prompt action of the Frontier Corps and the navy’s special group. As the Pakistan Army remains yet to issue an official statement on the attack, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by groups like the BLA, who continue to pursue their agenda through violent means, jeopardizing peace and stability in the region.
