Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the Centre’s electoral bond scheme as the “biggest scam in Indian history” following the Supreme Court’s order for the State Bank of India (SBI) to reveal details of donors and bonds redeemed by political parties by tomorrow.
In a social media post, Gandhi targeted PM Modi, stating that the government’s “donation business” is about to be exposed. He highlighted the nexus between corrupt industrialists and the government through electoral bonds.
The Supreme Court dismissed SBI’s plea seeking an extension to disclose electoral bond details, warning of contempt proceedings if the information is not provided by tomorrow. The apex court also instructed the Election Commission to ensure that the data shared by SBI is available on their official portal by March 15.
The SC had previously deemed the electoral bond scheme unconstitutional, halting its issuance and instructing SBI to disclose information to promote transparency in political funding.
