President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a state visit to Mauritius from March 11 to 13, following an official invitation extended by the Mauritian government, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, on Friday.
During her visit, President Murmu will play a significant role as the chief guest at the National Day celebrations scheduled for March 12. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between India and Mauritius, and President Murmu is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with key Mauritian leaders. Jaiswal stated in a regular press briefing, “The President of India will travel to Mauritius for a state visit, attending the National Day celebrations on March 12. President Murmu is scheduled to have important bilateral meetings with the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Prithvirajsing Roopun, and the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jagannath.”
This visit underscores the significance of the relationship between the two nations and is expected to enhance cooperation on various fronts.
In an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), it was disclosed that a contingent from the Indian Navy is set to actively partake in the National Day celebrations in Mauritius. Adding to the maritime representation, two ships from the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron, namely INS Tir and CGS Sarathi, will contribute to the festivities.
President Droupadi Murmu’s visit will not only involve her attendance at the National Day celebrations but also include significant engagements with key Mauritian dignitaries.
The comprehensive itinerary reflects the importance of strengthening diplomatic, naval, and cultural connections between India and Mauritius, underscoring the shared values and cooperation between the two nations.
