In a move aimed at enhancing user experience, Google Play Store is reportedly testing a feature that allows users to download multiple apps simultaneously. This long-awaited feature, if implemented, will streamline the app downloading process for Android users.
According to reports, Google is currently testing the feature as part of the Play Store update version 40.0.13. This update introduces experimental flags that, when activated, enable simultaneous downloads, potentially reducing app update times.
While the feature is promising, there are some limitations to consider. Google may not extend parallel installs to app updates within the “Manage apps & device” section, meaning updates initiated through “Update all” or individual app “Update” buttons may still occur sequentially.
Additionally, there is a default limit of two simultaneous downloads, although this limit can be adjusted during testing. However, users with older devices may experience limitations in handling simultaneous downloads, particularly for larger updates.
The introduction of this feature marks an exciting development for Android users, aligning the Play Store with a similar functionality already available on the Apple App Store. Despite previous speculation about parallel download features, Google’s current testing signals a potential improvement in app management efficiency on the Play Store.
While the feature is currently undergoing testing and may require further refinement before a wider rollout, its eventual implementation promises to significantly improve the overall user experience on the Play Store.
