Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, which was struck by a low-intensity IED explosion last week, is scheduled to reopen on Saturday, March 9. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the blast case, offering a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The blast occurred on March 1, injuring several people. CCTV footage showed the suspect boarding a BMTC bus and later captured customers at the cafe moments before the explosion.
Karnataka’s Director General of Police, Alok Mohan, confirmed the incident and stated that forensic teams are investigating the matter. The explosion is suspected to have been carried out using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), leading to the registration of a case under relevant laws.
Amid the ongoing investigation, the NIA released a photograph of the prime suspect and announced the cash reward. However, the suspect was recently spotted in CCTV footage without a hat or mask.
The blast has sparked political discussions in Karnataka, with opposition parties criticizing the government’s handling of terrorism. In response, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara urged cooperation in the investigation and refrained from politicizing the issue.
