Union Minister Smriti Irani staunchly defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi against recent criticism from RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and the opposition’s Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc. Speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) event in Nagpur, Irani asserted that PM Modi considers the youth, party workers, and all 140 crore Indians as his “parivaar” (family).
Irani condemned the “parivaarvad” jibe aimed at PM Modi, emphasizing that no one could harm even a single hair of the “Pradhan Sevak” (PM Modi). She challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to compare the achievements of the UPA government with those of the Narendra Modi-led administration.
Addressing the controversy stirred by Lalu Prasad Yadav’s remarks questioning PM Modi’s Hindu credentials and family status, Irani reiterated PM Modi’s commitment to serving every Indian, regardless of their background. She emphasized PM Modi’s stance against nepotism and dynastic rule, highlighting his dedication to the nation’s welfare.
Irani’s defense of PM Modi comes amidst a broader campaign within the BJP, with leaders including Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Anurag Thakur, appending “Modi ka parivar” (Modi’s family) to their social media handles. This campaign, reminiscent of the “main bhi chowkidar” narrative from 2019, aims to counter opposition slogans and solidify support ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
