WWII Uncle Sam Recruitment Poster
Actual Name: Walter Botts
The 1914 British recruitment poster of Lord Kitchener started the trend of the finger-pointing recruitment poster, brought to its artistic peak in the 1917 WWI recruitment poster by James Montgomery Flagg. Flagg had originally gone with his own face for the poster but went with his neighbor Walter Botts when asked to update it for WWII recruitment. At the end of his life Botts received presidential honors from both LBJ and Nixon.
